Welcome to the Melmac Encyclopedia

This free website is called the Melmac Encyclopedia as it showcases the best online links to vintage plastics history including melmac and melamine manufacturers , with itemized product lines; hence named the Melmac Encyclopedia. This information is free for people trying to research their plastics history or find more information on their favorite melamine dinnerware. The information has been compiled from all over the web, and our goal is to showcase it in one place.

The site is kept 100% free. Information will be updated and sponsored by Melmac Central .

The name, Melmac Encyclopedia was chosen to mimic our sister site, Melmac Central. Do keep in mind not all plastic dinnerware is Melmac, as this was the registered trade name of powders sold by American Cyanamid. Therefore the dishes you have, may simply be "melamine" and not "Melmac." More simply put, only manufacturers that bought the powders through Am Cy could use the trade name. Over time companies and manufacturers would shop around for the cheapest resins/powders.
